About the Artist
The Beauty of Nature
Nancy is a classically trained artist currently using photography and digital painting to explore the aesthetics of the natural landscape.
Nancy’s digital artworks have been exhibited nationwide, received awards, and entered private, corporate, and medical collections.
Nancy was raised in San Antonio and Houston before attending the University of California, Los Angeles as a National Merit Scholar. There, she studied oil painting in traditional B.A. and M.F.A. programs and was influenced by notable California artists including Robert Heineken, Richard Diebenkorn, John Baldessari, William Wegman, and Ed Ruscha.
In the 1990s, Nancy moved back to Houston, where she started working with early digital media, exhibiting with pioneering digital artist groups like International Webism and the New York-based Visual Arts League. Her digital art was featured in several notable exhibitions, including the Museum of Modern Art New York’s 1999 “Museum as Muse” online exhibition, the Las Vegas Truly Virtual Art Museum, and the Petersburg Biennial of Computer Graphics in St. Petersburg, Russia. While teaching digital art at colleges in Houston, she continued to develop and show her own creations. Nancy returned to San Antonio in 1999, making it her permanent home, and drew inspiration from the scenic landscapes around the city—creating digital works based on photos she took in parks and near rivers.
She participated in the San Antonio Department of Cultural and Creative Development’s Public Artist Mentorship Program in 2016, and was featured at San Antonio’s Luminaria Contemporary Arts Festivals in 2017 and 2018. Nancy earned the Texas Governor’s Committee on Disability’s Artist Award in 2017, and her work appeared on posters distributed to 2,500 state agencies. In 2021, she was a featured artist in the committee’s online seminar: “Art Works! Careers in the Visual Arts and People with Disabilities.”
One of Nancy’s works was used for the cover of the 2024 Voices de la Luna “Healing Arts” magazine, volume 16 issue 1; and her works were also published in issue 10 of New Visionary Magazine.
Nancy’s digital pieces can be printed on various materials, made in different sizes, and projected for display.
